Public Note:
night foray.luminous mycena. Has collarium and arises from grey basal button covered in acanthocysts. Stem dextrinoid, with flagellate caulocystidia, more numerous towards base, sometimes without flagellum. Without pleurocystidia. Unclamped. 4-spored.length=5.7–6.9µm (µ=6.3, σ=0.31), width=3.2–3.9µm (µ=3.6, σ=0.19), Q=1.6–1.9µm (µ=1.75, σ=0.11), n=20. Requires critical comparison with Au M. piringa. Sacchariferae. cf vesiculosa, alphitophora, perechinulata, judithiana, tenerrima but those with characteristic cap cells. . note that desjardin says pseudocollarium is variably present in sacchariferae. at least chloroxanthus in same section is luminous. this close to m. dryopteridis from masatierra (robinson crusoe island, juan fernandez) and valdivia. material sparse. Sequence of this indicates there are two 'crystal falls'. Summary of NZ species with basal pad/fringe/button (in basipedes, sacchariferae, filipedes pp): inclinata - blue, globuliformis - blue/yellow, 10506 - blue button only, carmeliana - yellow pad, mt grey - spiky button, crystal falls (2 sp) - collarium, perseverence -long stem and white, rotokuru - long stem and tan stripy, bulbosa - on carex. This species requires critical comparison with the Australian M. piringa (not sensu Leonard Qsld with acantho caulocystidia like M. judithiana). M. judithiana from WA has subglobose spores. Not enough material to split.
