Public Note:
With purplish hue. Cap radially grooved. Cap and stem with cystidia. No veil. Spores ellipsoid, pore eccentric. 4-spored. Without sclerocystidia. Gill edge sterile but cystidia not obvious - has layer of crystals. Spores length=9.8-12.3µm (µ=11.1, σ=0.58), width=5.4-6.6µm (µ=6.0, σ=0.31), Q=1.7-2.1µm (µ=1.86, σ=0.12), n=20. Differs from C. subpurpureus only in stem not quite a purple as descriptions suggest.
