Specimen notes
Public Note:
host identification by Colin. Uredinia with epidermis. Urediniospores minutely and distantly spiny, and with tonsure (smooth patch). With two equatorial germ-pores. length=25.6-30.4µm (µ=28.2, σ=1.39), width=20.8-24.0µm (µ=22.3, σ=0.98), Q=1.1-1.4µm (µ=1.26, σ=0.07), n=11. Note there are Hawaii records of P. leveillei (P. geranii-silvatici) on G. homeanum, has only telia. P. callaquensis on G. berteronaum in S.Am. Not P. distemta, also same host S.Am (uredinia globose). This not U. geranii, that with globose urediniospores and teliospores with apical pore. Marlin et al place P. g-p close to U. geranii on tree (EF570852). They say has urediniospores of 'dioica type' ... flattened in vertical plane, 2 supraequatorial pores and presence of a tonsure).
