Public Note:
Visited same site on 19/11/2012 and the infected plants were all dead, but not those surrounding. These were big bushes, with branches to 3cm diam. [2021] Having found this again at Kaituna Valley and I suspect the galls are the result of a gall mite on the same leaves as the rust. It is not Vittacus mansonii. The vegetative spikes are covered in the same rust like spores and basidia. The same leaves are also infected by Ramularia urticae. [JAC:12/11/2022] sequences says in the urticaca group, but if sequence is correct then not the same as the urtica/carex pair
