smell of iodine. Gills grey, not pink. Cap no change in KOH, flesh slightly yellow in KOH, base of stem slightly yellow when cut then fading. Smell iodiform. Schaeffer negative. With plug of inrolled tissue (but not prominent). Ring hanging down, simple. Kibby b,d/e,h,m,o,p/q - padanus, k14 - iodosmus. Neither. Sequence match to californicus - if correctly identified. New record for NZ.
