Specimen notes
Public Note:
New record for New Zealand. Teratosphaeria anamorph? Although T. salicis has mollisia teleomorph. See aso catenulostroma, which is associated with leaf spots on living material. T. cordae was described from leaves. This collection appears to be identical to Mercado-Sierra, Nova Hed. v64, p455, 1997, collected on wood. Conidia here are 8-11um broad. One later collection in same packet (in cellophane) shows red staining of wood, suggesting relation to Epicoccum purpurascens, but that has different conidia. An attempt to isolate the Trimmatostroma produced a culture of Bloxamia truncata - later record.
