Specimen notes
Public Note:
Not arising from a socle. Unlike JAC9808 this has thick walled pointed pilocystidia (one of the group mentioned by Egon). They are not amyloid. ITS & LSU place this in hydropoid clade adjacent to Porothelium. Egon's mentions a number of NZ marsmiellus-like species with hair-like pilocystidia. Amongst these M. candidus sits in the Marasmiaceae-campanella clade, JAC11342 (as M. omphaloides but probably not) sits questionably in the Lyophyllaceae, and this in the Porotheliaceae. None have the exact morphology of M. ompahlodes.
