5-septate (1 seen with 6) spores and with red staining wood, length=30.4-37.6µm (µ=33.7, σ=2.3), width=5.2-6.4µm (µ=5.7, σ=0.3), Q=5.4-6.7µm (µ=5.9, σ=0.4), n=12. But all the red stainers are 3-septate (L. haematites, L. cruenta, L. rubella, L. rubicunda, L. purpurea, L. sanguinolenta). Nodulosphaeria aucta has 6-septate spores and no red stained tissue, not superficial. L. vitalbae has 7-10 septa.
