Public Note:
Surface dark brown, tissue appearing dark green in KOH but without soluble pigments. V. insitiva rather than rubricosa. Spores length=16.1-21.2µm (µ=19.0, σ=1.4), width=8.2-9.6µm (µ=8.8, σ=0.4), Q=2.0-2.4µm (µ=2.2, σ=0.2), n=11 Probably collected before under V. rubricosa, as noted by Dick. New record for New Zealand. On the UOR and in wikipedia as causing perennial canker, but I'm not convinced. Leucostoma might be described that way, but surely not Valsaria? Reported to MAF 28/06/2010.
