Public Note:
not checked microscopically. Sequence places near a Heterochaete shearii from Costa Rica and Eichleriella leveilleana and adjacent Auricularia, not close to E. deglubens AF291274. Mr Bayes places it near H.s. but a long way from the rest. See Myc Res 105, p403 (in which Peter's ditching of Myxarium is refuted). Images of H.s. do look remarkebly similar. Heterochaete and Eichleriella distingusihed by arid reflexed fruitbody in the latter and gelatinous non-reflexed in the former. This had both arid reflexed and non-arid non-reflexed forms. The NZ collections of this with images in PDD are perhaps better placed in Heterochaete. Barbara Paulus' image of E. spinulosa looks more convincing.
