trabecular cystidia present (see close up image of gills) to 25um broad. See Clemencon (appears to be a feature of Coprinopsis only , e.g. atramentarius, cinereus, lagopus). veilar elements tan in mass, thick-walled, sometimes > 2um. Spores < 10um. 4-spored. length=8.3–10.1µm (µ=9.3, σ=0.6), width=7.1–8.0µm (µ=7.5, σ=0.3), Q=1.1–1.4µm (µ=1.3, σ=0.1), n=10 (face view). Germ pore central 1.7um. xantholepis/friesii/pseudofriesii - with friesii obvious candidate. New record for New Zealand. Known from Hawaii. Note that BFF concept has white veil and would come to rhombisporus which is now treated as a synomym. Reported to MAF 2/07/2010. ITS says this is C. pseudofriesii normally on wood
