on wet wood in stream. 4-spored (couldn't find many 2), whiplash end to hairs not circinate, tapering gently (not abruptly) and about 40um long, thick-walled along entire length of encrusted part (1um width), slightly dextrinoid, crystals narrow and rhomboidal. This is like some other taxa I've seen where the immature spores attached to the sterigma are elongate and very different in shape to the mature detached spores. Spores length=8.7\endash10.2µm (µ=9.4, σ=0.5), width=4.3\endash5.2µm (µ=4.6, σ=0.3), Q=1.7\endash2.3µm (µ=2.0, σ=0.2), n=10. FN to kaviniae (but that on leaves). Agerer 1975 keys to F. venezuelae but that also on leaves. Certainly doesn't match any existing described NZ taxa. No sign of Peyronelina glomerulata but this could still be the missing Flagelloscypha teleomorph of P.g. sp. nov.?
