Specimen notes
Public Note:
flesh reddening slightly, especially at top of stem. Gills bruising reddish slowly. Gills with pale brown edge at maturity. Cap edge overhanging. Ring simple, white below and above. Very pronounced shelf-like marginate bulb. Stature consistently smaller than M. rhacodes. A few free immature spores with metachromatic content but the majority not stained at all, dextrinoid, with pore, without hyaline cap, length=9.5–12.3µm (µ=10.5, σ=0.7), width=6.3–8.4µm (µ=7.2, σ=0.5), Q=1.3–1.6µm (µ=1.5, σ=0.1), n=15. Cheilocystidia and basidia definitely without basal clamps (best observed in erythrosin/NH4OH squash). Cap (in centre without squames) is hymeniderm. This would be Vellinga's nothorhacodes if not for the presence of a distinct marginate bulb..
