Specimen notes
Public Note:
dark purple cap, very finely pubescent, fading to green speckles with age. Smell faint of apples. Gills without lamelullae, anastomising slightly at stem, basally interveined. Cap finely pubescent. Flesh & gills spotting brown where damaged. FeSO4 faint pink, guaiac faint olive with time, cap paling to orange in KOH. Cap peeling 1/4. Cap not overhanging edge. Gills white to pale yellow with age. Taste mild. PL: "Unable to solve this one. Keys to R. umerensis as you say, but this species does not normally have a multicoloured cap." [JAC2012] cap cystidia identical to 10953. Without DCY SV+. Sequence data places this next to 10923 & 10837 but it does not have the same cap cystidia, and they are identical to 10953. There must have been a tissue mix-up here - not possible otherwise. [Aug 2011] yes it is possible!
