Public Note:
Cap 3.5-5cm with fine dark orange/brown squamules on luteous background. Stem 5-7cm x 1-1.5cm, with veilar remnant ring zone. Cap deep red in KOH. Taste bitter. Spore print orange. Gills orange and contrasting with yellow stipe. Some stems with distinct brown fibrillar zone, longitudinally furrowed, darkeing reddish towards base (no purlple anywhere). Stems fused. Flesh yellow and browning. Gills blackening when bruised or cut. Gill tissue exuding yellow pigment into KOH. Smell strong fungussy. Cheilocystidia slightly skittle shaped, some with yellow contents in water, many more yelllow in KOH + some basidia. Tissue clamped. Spores rough, with indistinct plage. 8.3-9.7(8.8) SD0.5 n= 12 x 5.3-6.2(5.8) SD0.3 n=12. Not dextrinoid. Cap hyphae encrsuted 13um diam. Plenty of material for sequencing. In same group as junonius - allochrous (not described anywhere), moabus(red), crociphyllus(too dark and spores dextrinoid), luteofolius etc. Bon' sub genus annulatus, section hispidelii, subsection purpurati (Fungi non deliniati v17). Close to luteifolius except that with violet scales (looks like Bon's photo tho). David Orlovich mentioned allochrous.
