taste mild. Cap dark in KOH. Spore print snuff brown. Gills with a deep yellow/orange base. Stipe rimose beneath ring zone. Spores smooth, very small germ pore. Cap hyphae filamentous, extra-cellular pigment, clamped. Pleuro and cheilocystidia weakly yellow in KOH, some with encrustation around neck. 4-spored. 7.7-8.6(8.2) SD0.3 n=12 x 4.9-5.4(5.2) SD0.2 n=10.
