Public Note:
Apothecia when dry cupulate with quite a long, thin stipe; hymenium bright yellow, otherwise concolorous white, clothed with dense layer of stiff white hairs. Hairs cylindric, undifferentiated at apex, roughened all over. Ectal excipulum of more or less square to globose cells 6.5-10 µm diam. and a similar length, walls slightly thickened. Paraphyses 2.5-3 µm diam., sublanceolate, quite broad, tapering gradually to rounded apex, extend about 10-15 µm beyond asci; asci 45-50 x 5.5-6.5 µm, more or less cylindric, taper gradually to rounded apex, wall thickened, J-; ascospores 7-9.5 x 1.5-2.5 (average 8.4 x 2.0 µm), oblong-elliptic, flat one side in side view, tapering slightly to rounded ends, slightly curved, 0-septate.
ITS sequence unique amongst the samples I have sequenced. Amongst the tree-fern inhabiting Lachnum spp. with apothecium and hairs white and hymenium yellow, the most distinctive morphological feature seem to be the very short, square to subglobose excipular cells. No BLAST match.
