Specimen notes
Public Note:
Numerous sclerotes inside dead, hollow flower stem. Common at several sites around Auckland islands. Sclerotes with dark rind, white internal tissue. No sign of conidia on either sclerotes or in culture, culture without sclerotes. ITS sequence suggest an undescribed species of Sclerotinia or a new genus of Sclerotiniaceae. Genbank DQ885458 Gamundi & Spinedi (1987) described what appears superficially to be a similar species from amongst grasses from Antarctica
