Specimen notes
Public Note:
This specimen (along with two others collected nearby at the same time (PDD 87835 and PDD 87836) has small, sessile apothecia, brown when fresh, darker when dry (about 0.5-0.7 mm diam. when dry). Apothecia forming in loose groups on decorticated wood. Excipulum comprising more or less parallel rows of hyphae with thick, gelatinous walls, arranged at high angle to receptcale surface.. Asci [bitunicate!] with barely differentiated, nonamyloid apex, initially 8-spored, but soon becoming filled with ascoconidia forming directly on spore surface from multiple conidiogenous loci. Ascospores 17-26 x 3.5-4 um, 7-9 cross septa, sometimes with longitudinal septa across one or two of the cells, cells constricted at septa, hyaline; ascosconidia small, 0-septate, cylindric, curved, ends rounded, hyaline. Paraphyses irregularly swiollen near apex, monilioid.
