Specimen notes
Public Note:
No taste (although should be bitter). 4-spored, spores weakly dextrinoid, warted, ornamentation strongly cyanophilous, blotchy, 6.5-7.8(7) SD0.4 n=11 x 3.5-4.1(3.8) SD0.2 n=10. Tissue monomitic, clamped, violet/green in FeSO4. I thought this was Clavicorona but can't be. Keys to Ramariopsis taxon 4 but that with spores nearly smooth. For Petersen Ramariopsis has distinct hilar appendage. The Fe reaction appears in Ramariopsis, Ramaria and Lentaria so not distinctive. If Ramaria then subgenus Ramaria or Lentoramaria - I'm led to sclerocarnosa. Spores and colour wrong for lorithamnus. I must have missed the basal rhizomorphs that this species should have. Only other collection in PDD is the type. Looks like pink version of R. polypus. ITS indicate not related to Ramaria ss and with a group containing R. gracilis, abietina and Lentaria. Ramaria subgenus Lentoramaria. Presumably close to Australian R. filicola also known from NZ. Spores and structure say slerocarnosa and not filicicola. Lentoramaria needs raising to rank of genus.
