Specimen notes
Public Note:
gills drying chocolate, with yellowish gill edge. Stipe with caulocystidia at apex. With prominent pleurocystidia slightly yellow in KOH, with beak, sometimes furcate, caulocystidia same. Cheilocystidia different, cylindrical, hyaline in KOH but with granular content, thin-walled and collapsing in Melzers. Cap with spherical cells sub-epidermis. Spores with prominent germ pore 6.1-6.9(6.4) SD0.2 n=15 x 3.5-4(3.8) SD0.2 n=9. Browne & Mills comment in Mycologist v7 that Egon (1971) said acutum was the same as fasiculare. He didn't as far as I can see. They are clearly different although perhaps this is closer to var. pusilla. Presence of caulocystidia and apical papilla might be characteristic.
