Specimen notes
Public Note:
Looks like collybia sensu stricto. No taste. Fruitbody leathery. Gills adnate. A white rotter? (litter with hyphae bleached). Cap a clamped cutis, not gelatinised. Gill edge with dense fasicles of clavate cheilocystidia. Caulocystidia like cheilocystidia. No tissue amyloid or dextrinoid. Hymenium full of collapsed spores? 4-spored, no germ pore, marasmioid (immature elongate then broadening on maturity, comma-shaped), without coloured globules, 6.3-8.6(7.4) SD0.6 n=13. Spores vinaceous dextrinoid when old but definitely not dextrinoid when immature, and thick-walled when old. Basidia carminophilous?, not cyanophilous, cheilocystidia metachromatic, spores absorbing dye to become intensely deep blue but not metachromatic. Not Sericeomyces - just doesn't feel lepiotoid. Pseudobaeospora clampless or rare, usually violaceous, spores dextrinoid when older and then thick-walled. Rhodocollybia has some spores dextrinoid - but like this? See also ZT0618. Sequence confirms as Rhodocollybia. Macromoprhology fits Stevenson's lentinus delicatus but Horak indicated the type has a hymeniderm, and then later cylindrical to subclavate terminal cells'. This this is a discontinuous trichoderm of cylindrical/clavate cells over a cutis. The type of L. delicatis requires reexamination but I'm confident this is it. Requires the combination Rhodocollybia delicata
