Specimen notes
Public Note:
Strong basal interveining (but not looking poroid). Gills sligthly decurrent, edge concolorous. Stem concolorous with cap, with white powdering of caulocystidia at apex. Stem tissue strongly dextrinoid, clamped. Spores amyloid, 7.5-9(8.1) SD0.5 n=7 x 4.1-4.8(4.4) SD0.3 n=7. Q=1.8. cap hyphae without ornamentation. Pleurocystidia not seen. Cheilocystidia variable but not seen with diverticulae or nodose. The cheilocystidia do have thin brown plasmatic content, but gill edge is not consistently darker. Pat had this as vinaecipora but too many characters differ - not poroid, spores here too big (m.v. = 4.8x3.3), no dark gill edge, not nodose. But otherwise close. It would be interesting to see just how poroid M. vinaceipora really is [later examination of type suggests that is M. lividorubra]
