Specimen notes
Public Note:
No smell. Stem without caulocystidia, finely brown pubescent towards base. Both cap and stem cutting like wax when dry but not looking gelatinized microscopically. Stem not dextrinoid, indistinctly clamped. Cap surface hyphae a cutis of glassy hyphae with swollen elements. Spores inamyloid, small. Basidia long and slender. Difficult to work out what's happening on gill edge. It isn't sterile (although looks so under dissecting scope) and looks like there are numerous collapsed basidia. Spores 5.9-7(6.4) SD0.4 n=8 x 3.3-4.2(3.7) SD0.3 n=8. Macroscopically looking like a Marasmius.
