Specimen notes
Public Note:
with distinct volva buried in the sand. Volva cream without hairs. Cap silky-fibrillose. With broad thin-walled cheilocystidia, some collapsing, varying considerably in size, without pleurocystidia. Cap a cutis, hyaline, some with pale brown plsmatic content, clamps not seen. 4-spored (occasional 2,3). Gill edge white, sterile, slightly fimbriate. Spores 6.7-7.8(7.1) SD0.4 n=15 x 4.8-6(5.3) SD0.4 n=14. Q=1.3. In FAN & BFF keys to V. taylori but a bit pale for my collection. For FAN taylori is a variety of pusilla. BFF has cystidia different. Singer has two Argentine taxa close to this - psammophila/subxerophytica. Can't trace a description of V. arenaria. V. dunensis is described as grey or bluish grey and is too big. Reported to MAF 2/07/2010. Sequence says this is V. dunensis nown from the mediterraean
