Specimen notes
Public Note:
Cap 5-15cm diam. white with recurved scales snuff brown. Stem 1-1.5cm x 5-10cm with basal bulb. Bulb slightly marginate (more just a disjuncture between obove ground/below ground). Stem white above moveable ring and fawn below (ring also white above and fawn below), ring edge fimbriate and bifurcate. Gill edge in older specimens grey and finally purple/brown. Flesh white immediately staining orange when cut, then fading brown. Ring moveable, white on upper surface, brown below. Cap surface hymeniderm, with cylindrical hyphae with brown extra-cellular pigment. Hyphae clampless. No tissue metachromatic(spores should be). Spores without cap but with depression. Cheilocystidia spheropedunculate 24.5-32.2(27.6)-13.8-15.2(14.6), Q=1.6-2.25(1.9) (length to 1st septum), without clamps at base. Rhacodes and not brunneum (has clamps, single ring, abruptly marginate bulb). Not or subrachodes as cheilocystidia different. Not nothorhacodes as cheilocystidia differemt and that with single ring. However this definitely does not have clamps and rhacodes is supposed to. Spores thick-walled, occasional double-sized, normally 9.8-11.6(10.7)x6.1-6.8(6.4)x6.1-7.9(6.9). Maybe brunneum on basis of brown underside of ring.
