Specimen notes
Public Note:
Stem eccentric, gill edge entire. Cap an irregular ixocutis with glassy walled hyphae. Spores distinctly amyloid, thin-walled collapsing 4-spored, allantoid length=4.0–5.1µm (µ=4.4, σ=0.4), width=2.3–2.7µm (µ=2.5, σ=0.1), Q=1.7–2.2µm (µ=1.8, σ=0.2), n=6. No pleurocystidia, with oliferous hyphae. Gills not forking. With large clamps. With hyaline/vesiculose infrequent cheilocystidia. With cylindrical brown caulocystidia - like terminal cap cells. Cap cells with intra & extra cellular pigment. Trama not dextrinoid. No ring or veil. Spores/basidia not cyanophilous, not metachromatic, without siderophilous granules. Looks like a ringless Armillaria (NZ) or even perhaps Flammulina - but not because this quite clearly has amyloid spores. Looks like a big version of Egon's Hydropus ZT1970. Pleurella was synonimised with Hydropus in his monograph. See notes for JAC10426. Should have sarcodimitic tissue in stem if Hydropus ss. Does it? I'm not accepting the synonymy with Hydropus as I think that would make it too broad. Where does Pseudoarmillariella sit? Mycopan is possibly a later synonym, based on Hydropus scabripes. This has fibrillose stem, but not furry.
