Specimen notes
Public Note:
Primordium globose, leaving a basal fimbriate disk.Stipitipellis and pielipellis vinaceous dextrinoid. Spores amyloid, ellipsoid, including apiculus length=6.5–8.4µm (µ=7.6, σ=0.49), width=4.5–5.7µm (µ=5.1, σ=0.33), Q=1.3–1.7µm (µ=1.48, σ=0.09), n=24. Pileipellis surface hyphae elongate, to 12um diameter, constricted at septa, densely diverticulate (to 2um), clamped. Subpellis hymeniform (to 40um diam.). Cheilocystdia clavate, densely diverticulate. 4-spored. Basidia subglobose to broadly ellipsoid 10um diamtere, to 15um long, squat. Stipitipellis deeply dextrinoid, of slightly thick-walled hyphae, to 6um, sparsely septate. Upper stem smooth, lower stem with occasional filamentous caulocystidia. Fimbriate base with nodulose, ornamented irregularly shaped diverticulae. =JAC9957?. Sequence data indicates this is not Crystal Falls ss. and closely related to M. adscendens. It is more similar to M. judithiana than M. piringa on spore shape.
