Specimen notes
Public Note:
Material sparse. Eccentric stipe present. No tissue amyloid or dextrinoid, 4-spored, spores broadly ellipsoid/limoniform, 5.5-6.5x4-5um, thin-walled, with vacuole and refractive apiculus, tissue with diamond-shaped crystals in Melzers, and oil droplets. Unclamped, not gelatinised. Cyphellostereum would be acyanophilous and have narrow uninflated hyphae. Egon keys to Cyphellostereum but clearly not C. laeve on moss and which has reduced gills. Not cheimenophyllum as that with globose spores. Not Mniopatelum, Rimbachia etc. Best left in the 'dustbin' of Marasmiellus. 8/5/2010-changed to Cheimonophylluym to place near Segedin's similar taxa - even tho none of Segedin's 'Cheimonophyllum' belong there. Later collections clearly alga associated. 11/1/2011 changed to Cyphellostereum because Oberwinkler indicates at least one lichenised member of Cyphellostereum (C. pusillum? But that without gills). Not a typical Cyphellostereum because of the well formed gills (so why not Leptoglossum?). C. laeve comes out near Rickenella in polyporacea/hymenochaetaceae clades (and so perhaps near 'Cheimenophyllum' roseum?)
