Specimen notes
Public Note:
Clearly a white rotter. Fasciculate, without basal tomentum. Smell & taste slightly mealy. Cap smooth, umbilicate, gills slightly decurrent. Without cheilocystidia or pleurocystidia. No tissue amyloid or dextrinoid. Gill tissue with oliferous hyphae. Cap peeling. Surface a cutis, hyphae not gelatinised, clamped, to 8um diam., sub-cuticular hyphae partially gelatinised. Surface hyphae with occasional bumps but not really significantly ornamented. Spores 5x3 apiculate, 4-spored. Basidia 35x5um. Stem slightly eccentric. Differences to Pleurocybella and Clitocybe semiocculta seem slim. This is not P.porrigens as that clearly with subglobose spores. Clelands description suggests his taxon is the same as P. porrigens. Can't agree with Grgurinovic's statement that this belongs in Singer's subgenus Disciformis. Egon says Ossicaulis but that known to be a brown rotting agent. Sequence says close to C. dryadicola and material labelled C. subditopa, which isn't. There is probably anew genus required in this group. Same as 11350! Another candidate for C. wellingtonensis
