pure white, not staining. KOH no effect, no smell or taste (mushroomy). With bulbous base. Drying white and not discoloring. Stem drying brown and covered with silky longitudinal fibrils. Spores strongly dextrinoid, not spurred, boletoid, to 11x4.5um, cheilocystidia cylindrical, cap a cutis, not hymeniderm, unclamped. Cap without squamules, smooth. FAN5 doesn't key. US introduction with radiata? Maybe 10486? L. serenus sensu lato. Spores length=10.0–12.4µm (µ=11.0, σ=0.83), width=4.3–5.0µm (µ=4.6, σ=0.23), Q=2.1–2.8µm (µ=2.40, σ=0.22), n=10
