Public Note:
stem long relative to cap, cylindrical, with bulbous base, no basal mycelia cords. Schaeffer negative, flesh rapidly deep red, ring hanging. Silvaticus group within section sanguinolneti (Euro lit: silvaticus, haemarhoidarius, impudicus, benesii). Closest to impudicus sensu Mitchell and sensu Capelli but not NM2 or FAN5 for which this is a sp with unchanging flesh. Cheilocystidia not obvious but clavate, brown, to 8um diam. Spores thick-walled, 3 x 5.5um, no germ pore, Q=1.6-1.8. Nothing European fits.
