Public Note:
Deep moss, Kanuka, Kauri, tanekaha (on "island"); height: 8 cm; pileus: (unexpanded) 4.5 cm diam. hemispheric when young, smoothly convex later, covered with fawn veil which splits and stretches to become either fawn membranous tissue or fawn warts, pileus dk. purplish brownish, moist and shining surface. Flesh white, stained grey below the skin; stipe: 8-9 cm at gills, tapered upwards. Surface with white and grey chevron pattern above ring, whitish below superior ring, ring membranous, white, fragile, with gill markings (grooves) above. Base bulbous, volva a rim of filaments or fawnish velvet which is lost in mature specimens; gills: free, white, crowded, papery, long and short, with minutely serrate margin; spore print white.
