Singly, several fairly close together; height: up to 7 cm; pileus: up to 8 cm diam., convex or almost flat and depressed in centre when young, older ones depresed and wholly concave on the top. Surface sticky when wet, pinkish brown, darker in the centre, stirate towards the margin. Centre sts. purple-brown. Skin peeling in outer half. Taste mild. Flesh white and chalky, continuous with stipe; stipe: 1.5-1.8 mm at top, white, dull, with faint surface network markings of pale lavender or lilac-pink. Flesh white, chalky, solid. Shape, wider at top and again near the base, then tapered at the foot. Shape very variable; gills: very pale lilac with some yellowish or apricot tinges, thick and powdery looking, adnate, free margin irregular [jagged], forking near the stipe. 5-8 per cm at margin; spores: print white
