Public Note:
brown/grey Hydnum-like with white spore print. Very common. Spines not decurrent. Spores hyaline, subglobose 5um, amyloid with verrucae (only obviois in melzers). Superficially like H. crocidens var. badius but not. This has smaller spores, context brown not sordid white, drying brown (not black) and stem brown felty and not sordid white/creamy brown, and spores amyloid! Checked against Geesteranus.
