Public Note:
18th Fungal Foray of New Zealand; The collection was made at Eves Valley Scenic Reserve, a 15 minute drive from the Fungal Foray of New Zealand headquarters at the Teapot Valley Christian Camp on Teapot Valley Road \endash vegetation a mix of totora, beech and many other plants along several small streams. Good material on very wet decorticated wood near stream edge. Specimens preserved as #879 in Ann\lquotes herbarium. Apothecial disk buff becoming light grey-buff at maturity, up to 1.5 cm diam; stipe buff. Paraphyses simple, straight, hyaline, smooth, about the length of the asci or slightly longer. Asci broad cylindrical with prominent Melzer\lquotes-positive \rquoteplugged\lquote rounded apices, containing 8 irregularly biseriate ascospores. Ascospores asymmetrically plano-convex or concavo-convex and slightly curving, fusoid to fusoid lunate, tapering to rounded ends, hyaline, smooth, vacuolate with 3-4(-5) transverse septa, 32-37 X 6-7 µm.
