Note:
Spores length=11.0-13.0µm (µ=12.0, σ=0.61), width=6.2-7.6µm (µ=7.0, σ=0.34), Q=1.6-1.9µm (µ=1.72, σ=0.09), n=20. germ pore 1.5-2um. Originally determined as A. sororia which is part of a species complex with smithii, putaminum, hortense, farinacea, amara. Watling & Bigelow treated the group (Mycotaxon v17, 1983, p17. Of the group only putaminum and farinacea have pilocystidia. Horak (Rohrlinge & Blatterpilze) has treated putaminum as a synonym of a broad concept of pediades - not supported by sequenes and too broad, pediades does not have pilocystidia, and germ pore 1um wide and cheilocystidia to 60um long, putaminum germ pore 1.5-2um wide and cheilocystidia up to 45um long, and no pilocystidia. A. firma has spores 6.5-7.5 x 4-5 and farinacea 8.5-10 x 6-8 rather than 9-15 x 5-9 and differnt csytidia. This is A. putaminum and represents the first record of this wood chip species.
