schaeffer's reaction negative, KOH negative. When young with floccose edge to lammellae giving gill edge a white furry appearance. Cheilocystidia abundant. Spores ellipsoid, thick-walled in KOH, without germ pore. No smell. 2-spored. ITS says this is A. bisporus. sensu Mitchell is not. Even though the basidia are consistently 2-spored the spores themselves are very variable length=7.1–9.7µm (µ=8.1, σ=0.78), width=4.8–7.0µm (µ=5.8, σ=0.54), Q=1.2–1.6µm (µ=1.40, σ=0.09), n=25
