Specimen notes
Public Note:
Fasciculate, glutinous, cap instantly deep red in KOH, taste mild. Appears to have leptocystidia and normal chrysocystidia? (but not elegans). Spores phaseoliform with small germ pore. 8.3 x 5um. Not usually on conifers in European lit, but is in N.A. lit.. This is aurivella of FAN4 (with larger spores than adiposa) and Smith/Hesler. Hood's P. adiposa is aurivella and I suspect many NZ collections under the name adiposa are actually this. ITS shows two clades with mixed adiposa/aurivella with a broad split beween europe and asia. This sits between the two.
