NZFUNGI has records of Personospora conglomeratum and Plasmopara geranii on Gernaium hosts. This collection represents a Plasmopara in having truncate, rather than tapered ends to conidiophores, and in regular dichotomous branching (and spherical rather than oval conidia in the case of this species). NZ has no previous record of Plasmopara pusilla, however that is name used for the Plasmopara on Geranium molle in the UK and recent molecular work supports the synonymy (Riethmueller, A., H. Voglmayr, M. Goeker, M. Weiss, and F. Oberwinkler. 2002). Phylogenetic relationships of the downy mildews (Peronosporales) and related groups based on nuclear large subunit ribosomal DNA sequences. Mycologia, 94: 834-849. Plasmopara pusilla is the correct name for this taxon. 16/1/2011 is this really Peronsopora conglomerata, as it is different to other Plasmorara collections on pusilla (which are probably P. wilsonii).
