Specimen notes
Public Note:
strong smell of garlic. Cap minutely scurfy. Cap with brown encrusted clavate sicus broom cells togther with and smooth elements (a trichoderm), some hyphae with 'zebra' stripes. All hyphae clamped. Stem glabrous but granulate at apex. Brown to black at base. Trama hyphae not dextrinoid. No collarium. . Cheilocystidia present and broom cells (most sicci but some rotalis!). This is clearly close to M. scorodonia but differing in chocolate brown cap with vesciculose cap cells encrusted with brown pigment. 8.5-10 x 3.5-5. Checked with Horak & Desjardin 1997. An unexpected host for this native fungus. Really a Mycetinis Wilson & Desjardin. With DNA tube.
