Specimen notes
Public Note:
fruitbodies 'myxarioid' pustulate, no clamps, spores 7 septa, probasidia not basally inflated, apically branched dikaryophyses absent, basidiospores curved cylindrical 23 x 7um nearly all germinating with lateral conidia.. No bottle shaped cells so not Heterotextus. D. novae-zelandiae is nearest except that is applanate and this isn't. However it probably represents an immature specimen where individual pustules haven't coalesced. This is the first collection since McNabb's - and all his were N. Island. There seems to be a close affinity of estonicus, chrysospermus and novae-zelandiae with variable features distinguishing them. E&E would key to estonicus in the UK.
