Public Note:
looking like a Lepiota except bruising red. Gills orange in NH3OH and not green (but stock old and weak). Endospore staining in cresyl blue (but not metachromatic). Cuticle hyphae elongate, no clamps. Cheilocystidia vesiculose, frequently with neck. Spores strongly dextrinoid 7.5 x 4um. European lit leads to badhamii, croceovelutinus etc but these with bigger stature and certainly longer stem. US lit to tinctoria and allies. Nearest to badhamii. Place here with trepidation. Spores with germ pore? Not close enough to other croceovelutinus in genbank
