Specimen notes
Public Note:
all cut flesh becoming orange. Ring thick. Gill edge pale brown against white face. Spores very thick walled in KOH 15.5 x 8.3um, no covering, strongly dextrinoid, some truncate, some not truncate, without germ pore. 2-3 spored basidia, no clamps at base. Cuticle a cutis(!) with trichodermal tufts. Nearest is rachodes but that with germ pore and basal clamps and smaller spores. Certainly not clelandii - way too big. Notes added March 2008: ring vaguley double - with lower brown felty patch. With bulb that is marginate. Brown part of cap most definitely hymeniderm. Cheilocystidia with basal clamp (30)x(13.6), Q=(2.28). Spores 10.3-12.8(11.5) x 7.3-8.5(8.1) Q=1.27-1.56(1.43). Out of my collection 10409, 8835, 9281, 9490, 9845 no two share the same characters of stem base, hymeniderm cap, clamped cheilocystidia, spores size, cheilocystidia morphology, or ring character.
