Specimen notes
Public Note:
from Clive Shirley. Seen by Egon. Referred us to his synopsis. Same as a collection of mine from Kennedy's Bush (9233). Smells of aniseed and is rubbery. Spores globose 5um inamyloid, with amyloid cystidia. Not a pleurotus - but what? Note added 20/3/08: this does seem to have cheilocystidia unlike s. Island collection. I do not see them as amyloid. Spores are consistent with S. Island material. Fruitbody has dried more compact and with brown tomentum on stipe unlike S. Island collections. Should have sarcodimitic tissue in the stem. Does it? [2013] Cap an unclamped cutis, surface hyphae with brown plasmatic content (KOH)), hyphae to 3um diameter, with occasional brown vesicles (possibly the previosuly observed amyloid cystidia!) . Cap context with numerous oleiferous hyphae, occasional thick/glassy walled hyphae towards hymenium. Gill edge with numerous filamentous cheilocystidia, although material immature, few spores seen and no basidia.
