Specimen notes
Public Note:
stem dry, without juice, without basal disc, fibrous, with apical cystidia, gill edge not coloured, cap to 5cm, smell strongly nitrous, gills free-adenexed, cheilocystidia not broom cells, pileus with tufts of acute, fasciculate cystdia and broad, clamped hyphae. Tissue not dextrinoid (not Mycena ss). Spores strongly amyloid cylindrical length=6.4–8.1µm (µ=6.9, σ=0.4), width=3.8–4.7µm (µ=4.1, σ=0.2), Q=1.6–1.9µm (µ=1.7, σ=0.1), n=15. Basidia seem to mature unevenly so looks like 2-3-4 spored. Gills with oleiferous hyphae, unusual cheilocystidia look like they are a continuation of oleiferous hyphae. Not reacting in SV. Spores metachromatic. See M. auricoma. Mycena section radiatae, but without radiata cap. Not part of Mycena sensu stricto. Group need a new generic name. It also includes Clitocybula sulcata, incorrectly assigned to Clitocybula.
