Specimen notes
Public Note:
Clustered, centrally stipitate, pileus leaden-grey to vinaceous grey with purple flush, gills pale leaden grey, not serrate, decurrent and thick. Cap 10-20mm diam. stem to 20mm length x 7mm diam. Whole fruitbody firm gelatinous. Smell strong, aniseed - just like Lentinellus cochleatus. With amyloid, capitate cheilocystidia. 4-spored, spores not amyloid, smooth globose, apiculate 3.5um. Basidia 50um x 5um. Can't find siderophilous granules. No idea where to place this! Has look of pileate lentinellus/pleurotus/cantharellus. Not P. purpureo-olivaceous. Cystidia not metuloid so not Hohenbuehelia. Not a Pleurotus either given spore size and amyloid cystidia - but is most suitable holding-pen. Egon not familar with it. Same as 9320. Should have sarcodimitic tissue in the stem. Does it? [2013] has slightly amyloid zebroid encrusted cap hyphae with erect vescicle. Gill edge with cystidia but basidia are very long/thin - like hygrocybe in fact. Sterigma short, basidia collapsing at maturity. No amyloid cystidia!
