Specimen notes
Public Note:
conidia to 9 x 90um, 7-10 septate, grey-brown with paler end cells. Single appendage to 100um present in > half conidia, appendage sepate, continuous with conidium. Conidiophore to 8.5 x 85um long with around 7 septa. It isn't possible to distinguish between pellucidum and cambrense from these morphological measurements. Ellis mentions conidia attenuated to apex in pellucidum and this is present in Hughes photo. However I think the character is variable and dependent on production of the appendage - attenuated when appendage present or about to be formed, cylindrical when not formed. Probable that two are synonymous. Distinction not mentioned in Whitton FD11. Recall conversation with Paul Kirk in 80s concerning distinction on basis of scar width.
