Specimen notes
Public Note:
Endoperidial body 12mm. Peristome fimbriate, delineated, endoperidium sessile, not hygroscopic, outer and inner layer of endoperidium felted (but not encrusting dirt), inner layer covering cracked (and presumably reddening as I called this rufescens at the time of collection). Capilitial threads brown (unlike some other collections of Geastrum with hyaline/yellow threads). Thinner threads showing intermittent darkened areas at nodes. Spores have persistent small pedicel which attract air bubble, and nowhere near as ornamented as some other geastrums. Spores 4-4.9(4.3) SD0.3 n=12. Not rufescens (not stalked). Nearest to fimbriatum but with some microscopic differencs to 10537. Perdidium with short turf of erect thick-ealled hypahe, no emergent setae. Sequences close to material labelled Radiigera sp. and Radiigera taylorii (just immature specimens, or perhaps that's what Ridiigera is based on?).
