Specimen notes
Public Note:
Conidia 21 x 5 grey, fusiform towards apices, with germ-slit/bubbles. Conidiophores 30 x 3um, denticulate, acropleurogenous, with lobed cells (hyphopodia?). This is clearly the same as Matushima's Rhinocladiella cristata. A Tanzanian collection was described by Pirozynski (Myc. Pap. 129), but both were moved to Pseudobeltrania by de Hoog (CBS 15), the latter being given a new name of P. selenoides because of lunnate conidia and lobed cells. None of the descriptions mention the germ slit, although this is clearly depicted by Matsushima. My collection has the lobed cells mentioned by Pirozynski but not the lunnate shape and is hence intermediate. All transferred to Ardhachandra by Subramanian. See Chen & Tzean My Res 99(3)p366 for discussion. New to New Zealand. Known from Okinawa, Taiwan, Cuba, Canaries. Reported to MAF 2/07/2010
